Legal Services Commission Manual: Volume 2. Civil Contracting (The General Civil Contract)

The Legal Services Commission Manual is the only official guide to the scheme for public funding in England and Wales. The four volumes provide guidance on statutory and other regulatory materials and are a required reference tool for all publicly funded solicitors.

The Manual provides invaluable guidance on the Community Legal Service (CLS) and Criminal Defence System (CDS), and is divided into four volumes:-

• Volume 1: The statutory framework including the 1999 Act, regulations, directions and arrangements
  
• Volume 2: The general civil contract including the rules and guidance for each of the areas of work
  
• Volume 3: The Funding Code criteria, procedures and all relevant guidance
  
• Volume 4: The Criminal Defence Service material - all the materials necessary to practice under the new system
