This 2nd edition discusses the history and current scope of the restraint of trade doctrine at common law. It has been written primarily with the needs of the practitioner in mind, but also those of the teacher and the student. It focuses on what the law appears to be, not on what it should be.
It attempts to deal exhaustively with the Australian and English cases; fully with the New Zealand cases; extensively with the Canadian cases; and selectively with the South African and United States cases. This edition also deals with statutory modifications to the remedy of severance in New South Wales and New Zealand, which have been enacted since the first edition was written.
