Immigration: Law and Practice contains detailed information and advice on key aspects of the law and procedure relating to immigration and asylum, including entitlement to entry, grounds for refusal, deportation, offences and court and tribunal proceedings. It presents clear explanation of the relevant law and policies with interpretation of legislation and assessment of decisions in the courts and statutory appellate bodies.
The work discusses in detail the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, the Human Rights Act 1998 as it affects immigration and the Civil Procedure Rules as they affect judicial review and habeas corpus, along with an in-depth examination of the impact and relevance of European Law.
Comprehensive treatment is also given to citizenship rights in the context of immigration, the right to enter and remain and liability to deportation and removal. Consideration of the review processes of initial decisions occupies a substantial part of the work, including recent developments of the courts supervisory roles with regard to human rights.
