The 1st edition of this work was published in Hardback in 1987, with a Foreword from Lord Donaldson MR. The next two editions were also in hardback with Forewords from Lord Woolf MR as he then was. In 2002 this work wnt into its 4th edition in the UK, in Looseleaf with a Foreword by Lord Phillips MR as he then was.

The success of these editions has pompted the view that there should be a hardback edition to service the needs of commercial litigators beyond the shores of the UK> hence this work which seeks to build on the sturdy foundation established over nearly two decades.

The purpose of this book is to afford to commercial litigators in a common law environment, immediate access to the armoury of arguments and remedies to achieve the speed and focus required for a pre-emptive strike.
