This conference reflected the common concerns that arise in industry with regard to the EC Directive on Electromagnetic Compatility (EMC) - where and how to comply, and how much will it cost? The proceedings include an initial session, ""EMC strategies - industrial perspectives"", which covered practical strategies for achieving system compiance and the impact of EMC on corporate policy.;After this there were parallel sessions. Session A for ""designers/engineers"" focused on practical implementation options, session B for ""managers"" concentrated on decision making and policy aspects. The papers in session A under ""discrete products"" looked at measurement techniques and test methods, design tools, simulation and verification - a third party or product manufacturer responsibility, and designing and testing radios. Then ""systems"" discussed EMC compliance for distributed systems - a proposed code of practice for installers, the effectiveness of automotive EMC test methods, and finally, a case study - achieving EMC for a range of industrial products and systems.;Session B under ""discrete products"" studied how to comply - options and their merits, when to comply and EMC of road vehicles for Europe. Then ""systems"" examined strategies for system compliance, EMC testing pre- and post-installation experience of products and systems, and the cost of compliance.
