    • Amendments made to the Courts of Justice Act by the Access to Justice Act, S.O. 2006, c. 21, Schedule A, ss. 1, 3, 4, 8, 14, 15, and 18 have come into force on October 1, 2007. Amendments of note include the repeal and replacement of Part V - Court Administration of the Courts of Justice Act.
    The Rules of Civil Procedure have been amended by:-
    • O. Reg. 573/07 which introduces a a new rule 1.08.1 establishing a video conference pilot project for the hearing of references under the Solicitors Act of a lawyer’s bill for assessment that is ordered to be held in a court located in certain specified locations in the northern part of the province. The rule comes into force on July 1, 2008 and is revoked on January 1, 2010.
    • O. Reg 575/07 changes the use of the terms “solicitor” and “counsel” to “lawyer” and makes amendments to rules dealing with lawyer representation, service and costs.
    • O.Reg 55/08 deals with actions struck of the trial list and is designed to allow case management masters to restore actions to the trial list when struck off by administrative act of trial office staff, but not when struck by a judge. It also extends the operation of Rule 78 - Toronto Civil Case Management Pilot Project to July 1, 2009.
