This Code provides best practice advice for the management of residential property where leaseholders/tenants pay a service charge. It has been written to complement the Code for residential management where tenants pay rent only (see above).
In an area where many problems arise through poor communication and lack of understanding, this Code is essential to ensure appropriate management control.
Sections of the Service Charge Residential Management Code (published 1997) are now out of date. The Residential Faculty are currently working on a new version of the code. At present the new code is not expected to publish until some time in 2007.
In June 2005 the residential faculty issued an addendum to the code summarising the key changes so far and highlighting which areas of the code are most affected. The addendum is being sent out with new purchases of the code.
