Written in non-technical language, The Technical and Legal Guide to the UK Oil and Gas Industry represents a joint industry project with 44 authors and contributions from some 20 companies, institutions and other organisations. The technical sections of each of the 25 stand-alone chapters have been written by industry experts in their particular areas with legal and commercial commentary by Stronachs’ corporate lawyers.

The book has been edited by John Wils, formerly Aberdeen Director of UKOOA and now technical consultant on oil and gas issues for Stronachs, and Ewan Neilson, Head of Stronachs Corporate and Commercial Department.

Commenting on the objectives of this book, John Wils said "There are so many people within operators, contractors and the service industry who are keen to develop new ideas but do not always have access to technical understanding on all facets of oil and gas production. This book will definitely help them in improving their knowledge of the whole industry".

Also commenting on the book, Ewan Neilson said "Understanding the commercial and legal issues with each step of field development will undoubtedly save companies time and money and will help to speed up developments".

Malcolm Webb, Chief Executive of Oil and Gas UK, writes in the Foreword of the book "I believe this is the first book that addresses both legal and technical concerns and, as such, provides a unique perspective of the issues that are central to the future success of this truly magnificent industry".

Simon Toole, Director Licensing, Exploration and Development for DBERR, commenting on the book stated "A successful future for the UKCS demands an even closer working between technical, commercial and legal disciplines. This book provides an excellent integrated, in-depth reference to support this objective".
