The 42nd edition of this two volume publication contains all European Community legislation published in the Official Journal of the European Union up to 1 January 2004. It is compiled from the Celex database, the interinstitutional computerised documentation system for Community law.
The Directory covers:
agreements and conventions concluded by the Communities and /or the European Union in connection with their external relations
binding secondary legislation under the Treaties establishing the European Union and the European Communities, with the exception of day-to-day administrative acts
supplementary legislation, in particular decisions of representatives of the Governments of the Member States meeting within the Council
certain non-binding acts considered by the institutions to be important
The Directory appears in two volumes:
Volume 1, the main body of the Directory, consists of 20 chapters with acts arranged according to subject
Volume 2 contains chronological and alphabetical indexes of the acts appearing in Volume 1
