The text of this edition has been heavily revised and in may places rewritten to take account of important new developments.
Chief among the statutes since the first edition are the Theft Act 1981 and the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act 1981; but these are eclipsed in general significance by the twin decisions of the House of Lords on recklessness in 'Caldwell' and 'Lawrence'.
Among other recent cases discussedv are 'Miller' on arson. 'Seymour' on motor manslaughetr, and 'Sullivan' on automatism, in the House of Lords; 'Kimber' on mistake and 'Wilson' on inflicting actual bodily harm in the Court of Appeal.
