This is the first book on prison law in Scotland. Due to the increasing involvement of domestic courts and the European Court of Human Rights in prison matters, changes in penal philosophy, and the period of prisoner unrest in Scotland in the mid 1980's, the law has come to play a much more significant role in prisons.
