There have been many books published recently on the causes of the global financial crisis and on the changes that should be made to the regulation of the financial sector, but one issue that has received very little coverage is governance both within financial institutions and across the sector as a whole.
This volume, from an international group of scholars, argues that good governance is crucial to the success of any regulatory regime, and explores how better governance of the financial sector can be achieved, going beyond banks, which have been the subject of most studies, to the whole of the financial sector. The chapters exploit two dimensions so as to give a comprehensive coverage: the full range of academic analysis, market participant experience and regulatory focus; and the disciplinary range of law, economics and other aspects of business.
