The treatment of pensions on divorce has become a hot topic in family law circles in recent years. The publication of the Pension Advisory Group’s report and recent case law has caused family lawyers to take a greater interest in pension assets than before. Alongside this, the increasing number of negligence claims being brought against solicitors as a result of incorrect advice in relation to pensions gives lawyers an even greater reason to ensure that they are familiar with these complex assets, and how the court treats them on divorce.
