The Employment Relations Act 1999 is the Labour Government's flagship reform of individual and collective employment law. The Act repeals elements of the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 and substitutes additional, and potentially far-reaching, new trade union provisions. Additionally, at the individual level, it supplements a variety of rights provided by the Employment Rights Act 1996.;This guide provides a detailed account of the Act and explains the meaning of its provisions in a practical manner.
