The purpose of this book is to give the reader a selective outline of significant parts of the central areas of German substantive law - constitutional law; human rights; contract; tort; and criminal law - along with original German legal material from these areas: extracts from the Basic Law and the civil and criminal codes, and judgments of German courts.
This original German material is accompanied by an English translation. Source material is accompanied where appropriate with comments and further references. The book will be of interest to students of German law and comparative law, and students of the German language and contemporary German politics and society. The second edition incorporates new material from a number of recent cases.
