As one of Her Majesty's judges Roger Thursby who opened his successful career in Brothers in Law must of course stay sober - and not only out of court.

The re-appearance in his life, however, of Plummer, an old school-friend, threatens his best intentions. For Plummer, who has turned practical joker, thinks nothing of using a night-club hostess as ammunition against_ the irritating target of Roger's unsullied virtue.

lt is with a sense of trepidation that one follows the young judge through the vaudeville of lawsuits in the High Court and the Court of Appeal. After a relaxed interlude with Judge Henry Blagrove in the County Court, it is with a sense of increased trepidation that one sets foot in the Soft Shoe Club. Curiously enough it comes as a relief when eventually the captivating Toni gets her judge.
