This new edition of Professor Levy's reader includes essays by Charles Beard, Andrew C. McLaughlin, Merrill Jenson, Forrest MacDonald, John P. Roche, and Eric McKitrick, among others. The publication of this collection, which amply represents the extensive research being undertaken in an historiographical field that has been particularly active over the past decade, coincided with the 1987 bicentenary of the Constitutional Convention.
