In July 1998, the House of Lords' landmark ruling (Wells v Wells) increased the awards to victims based on the fact that they would be investing their award in less risky investments. This landmark ruling is expected to replace all previous case law. The book includes not only the latest edition of the authoritative Ogden tables but also the much more detailed tables derived from Computing Personal Injury Damages, the acclaimed software package from Butterworths.These new multiplier tables offer a number of improvements: information can be found on a single page without having to cross-refer; they eliminate the horizontal spread of irrelevant discount rates e.g. 1.5 per cent and 5 per cent; and they provide multipliers for every year from 50 to 75, not just for the traditional retirement ages of 60 and 65.
