The legal system of China is a young one, as the reconstruction after its sabotage during the Cultural Revolution only began in 1979. This book is written from a comparative jurisprudential perspective. It provides a systematic account of the history of the Chinese legal system, its structure, the sources of law, the major legal institutions, and the basic concepts and principles of procedural and substantive law, as well as raising questions of a more theoretical interest.
