This work sets out the background to the regulation of telecommunications by the European Community. It examines the context and impact of current EC regulation in the field, addressing all aspects of telecommunications within the Community. The Community is determined to create a harmonized Single Market, which is internationally competitive.
Central to this policy is the development of a Community wide competitive telecommunications network which is efficient and readily available to users. The work covers measures by the Community to create the conditions for the fulfilment of its policy and a single European telecommunications market.;Designed to be accessible, the work includes the complete set of current Directives, Resolutions and Decisions as well as Recommendations affecting the telecommunications sector.
This includes regulation of telecommunications administrations and removal of barriers to competition in the market for equipment and services. The work should be of equal value to telecommunications policy makers, industry planners and managers, and lawyers.
