This is a socio-legal study of the Irish Unfair Dismissals Act 1977. It has two objectives: firstly, to establish the extent to which the 1977 Act has curtailed or enhanced employer control in the employment relationship; and secondly, to establish the impact this legislation has had on the employment relationship and various factors in the workplace.
